At the Geneva Motor Show today, Land Rover officials confirmed the Range Rover Evoque will spawn a convertible version for the 2016 model year.
The convertible concept originally made its debut three years ago, also at the Geneva show. Since then, Land Rover has teased off and on about the possibility of putting the topless tart into production, and now its arrival is eminent.
The announcement of the convertible coincides with the model’s mid-life facelift, which includes new bumpers and LED lighting for the early-arriving 2016 model year.
Land Rover clearly sees the Evoque convertible as an urban car, as seen in the teaser video released in conjunction with the announcements. But who knows; perhaps with a roll cage, and external spare and a lifted suspension, the drop-top Evoque might make the ultimate beach Rover.
