Taking advantage of this year’s Overland Expo West, Land Rover launched an all-new off-road driving competition, the Land Rover Experience Tour Peru 2017. As the name suggests, the competition culminates in a trip to Peru, where four finalists will each win a six-day Peruvian adventure at the wheel of a new Discovery.
Overland Expo was the first opportunity for challengers to enter the competition. A narrow “trials” course was set up in the driving exhibit area at the event, adjacent to the Land Rover Experience course. Drivers were scored on their appropriate use of speed through the course – not too fast, but not too slow – as well as their ability to navigate the course without touching any of the gate markers or having to reverse.
Additional opportunities are available at any of the three Land Rover Experience centers in the United States – The Quail Lodge in Carmel, CA; the Equinox Resort in Manchester, VT; or the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC. The course will vary from location to location, with drivers scored only against other drivers from the same location. Entrants will be able to participate at any of the three Experience centers between June 1 and August 31. One winner will be chosen from each of the four venues. All four winners will be awarded a six-day trip to to Peru in late October and early November.
According toKim McCullough, Brand Vice President for JaguarLand Rover North America, the competition “…provides an opportunity for us to showcase the unique features of the new Land Rover Discovery and engage with adventure minded individuals at our Experience school locations.”
