The staff of Alloy+Grit magazine, in conjunction with the PA-based ROVERS Club, will once again host the Land Rover class at the Carlisle Import & Performance Nationals from May 18-20, 2018 in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. The annual three-day car show has long been a favorite of import car clubs around the Northeast, bringing out a strong showing of various English, German, Italian, Swedish and even French cars. Last year Alloy+Grit organized the first serious contingent of Land Rovers that Carlisle has seen in years to celebrate Land Rover North America’s 30th anniversary, and this year we’ll be honoring 70 years since the first Land Rover was introduced.
The full event, which also includes a swap meet, vendors, autocross and drifting competition, runs Friday, May 18 through Sunday, May 20. Alloy+Grit staff will be on the grounds throughout the weekend and will be camping on-site. Campsites are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, but if you wish to camp with us we can block out a space in advance. Reach out and coordinate with us in advance by emailing Bryan @ Alloyandgrit.com and confirm your arrival day.
Saturday is always the big day at Carlisle, and we have some special activities planned specifically for Saturday, May 19. To kick things off, from 9:00 to 10:00 am we will serve a free “Full English Breakfast” – bacon, eggs, sausages, toast, beans, fried tomatoes and mushrooms, and English breakfast tea – to all Land Rover participants at the ROVERS Club tent. We will provide Alloy+Grit gift bags for all Land Rover owners who participate on the show field Saturday (judged or unjudged), and we’ll give an award for oldest Land Rover to show (based on verifiable build date). Finally, we’ll award a $250 Orvis gift certificate for Best British Outfit (male or female), so dig out your Wellies and flat cap, make sure your best tweed suit still fits, or brave it all and show up in a kilt.
We encourage anyone with pride in their Land Rover register to show it on the main event field with other Land Rover enthusiasts. Registrations made before April 16 will receive a 10% discount. Make sure to select “ROVERS Club” as your club affiliation when you register so we have a rough count of how many vehicles we can expect.
