When the new Defender 110 arrives in showrooms starting in the first quarter of 2020, six models will be available with a choice of two engines – either the turbocharged 2.0L, 296-hp Ingenium four-cylinder gas engine or the turbocharged 3.0L, 395-hp Ingenium six-cylinder gas engine with mild hybrid assist. The Defender 90 will arrive later in 2020, using only the six-cylinder engine.
The four-cylinder Defender 110 will be available in basic form as the Standard model starting at $49,900, or as the modestly equipped S model from $53,350.
The Defender 110 will use the mild-hybrid six-cylinder engine exclusively for the SE ($62,650), HSE ($68,350), First Edition ($68,650), and X ($80,900) models, each representing higher levels of trim and equipment, respectively.
More importantly, perhaps, Land Rover has designed four unique accessory packages aimed at different types of buyers based on their lifestyle and usage preferences. These include the Explorer Pack for off-road travel and overlanding, the Adventure Pack for active outdoor enthusiasts, the Country Pack for rugged use “off the beaten path” according to Land Rover, and the Urban Pack for on-road style-oriented buyers.
In addition to these pre-packaged ensembles, Land Rover has apparently designed over 170 individual accessories for the new Defender, including an on-board pressurized water tank, air compressor, external storage case, and lightweight roof rack to name just a few.
Here’s a look at what’s included with each of the four accessory packs.
Explorer Pack – Includes a lightweight, low-profile roof rack; locking exterior side-mount gear storage case; wheel arch moldings; front and rear mud flaps; spare tire cover; and matte black hood decal. This pack can be upgraded with fixed side steps, a side-mounted roof ladder, a front bumper undershield and high-clearance A-frame protection bar.
Adventure Pack – Includes a portable 1.7-gallon pressurized water tank for rinsing; trunk-mounted integrated air compressor; locking exterior side-mount storage case; rear bumper scuff plate; and a removable seat backpack designed to be taken with you when you leave the vehicle.
Country Pack – This package includes features the wheel arch moldings; rear bumper scuff plate; pressurized rinse-out water tank; front and rear mud flaps; and a full-height load space partition.
Urban Pack – This design package prioritizes style over ruggedness with it 22-inch alloy wheels, bright rear bumper scuff plate, front bumper undershield and metal trimmed pedals.
