Alloy+Grit is the creation of three dedicated Land Rover enthusiasts, each with a professional background in publishing or design: Bryan Joslin (Publisher/Content Director), Steve Hoare (Editor in Chief), and Dan Marcello (Creative Director).
Joslin is a veteran of the automotive industry with experience reaching back to 1991. Since 2004 he has worked as an automotive journalist, most notably serving eight years as a writer, editor and editorial director with online publisher Vortex Media Group.
As a freelance contributor he has written feature articles for Bimmer magazine (BMW), Excellence magazine (Porsche), European Car magazine, and Collectible Automobile magazine, as well as several automotive websites. His arsenal of skills include photography, photo editing, story design, video production, and managing lean publishing organizations. He is an accomplished driver equally at home at the race track or off-road. Joslin has owned two Land Rovers including his current Discovery II.
Hoare started out as an engineer for Aston Martin while still living in his native England. Since moving to the US he has contributed to both Land Rover Owner International and Land Rover Monthly magazines, and was instrumental in developing a market-specific version of Land Rover Monthly for North America.
He is an experienced off-road enthusiast and overland traveler with extensive relationships in numerous Land Rover clubs and organizations in the Northeast and abroad. He has owned literally countless Land Rovers but currently he claims four, including a Series I, a Series III, a Defender 110 and a Discovery II.
Marcello is an advertising designer by trade, working by day at a major advertising agency in New York. His agency experience includes branding and brand development, social media marketing, and audience development, as well as an insider’s perspective on media purchasing and advertising protocols. Marcello has had countless Land Rovers, and currently owns a Series I and a Defender 90.
